Postdoctoral Research Associate

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of experimental platforms for mechano-electrochemical measurements, including optical characterization of deformation in electrodes and single particles
• Fabricate battery cells (coin, pouch, cylindrical) and perform electrochemical testing and cycling experiments to generate high-quality datasets
• Analyze chemo-mechanical behavior in porous electrodes and active particles using experimental data and theoretical frameworks
• Develop and implement physics-based models, including porous electrode theory and single-particle models
• Document and disseminate research findings through publications, reports, and presentations

Requirements

• Ph.D. in mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, materials science, or a closely related field
• 0–3 years of relevant research experience in battery systems or electrochemical energy storage
• Knowledge of electrochemistry, battery materials, and electrochemical testing methods
• Knowledge of chemo-mechanics and coupled electrochemical–mechanical phenomena
• Ability to fabricate and assemble battery cells and conduct cycling and diagnostic tests
• Ability to design and execute experiments, including optical or in situ characterization techniques
• Ability to analyze experimental data and develop physics-based models
• Familiarity with computational tools for data analysis and/or simulation
