About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead and conduct scientific research assessing exercise responses and adaptations in perinatal females and female athletes.
- Execute studies involving motion capture, dynamometry, EMG, metabolic data, ultrasound imaging, and pelvic floor muscle examination.
- Manage data, perform statistical analysis, and produce scholarly papers for publication.
- Assist with grant writing and contribute to the development of research funding.
- Mentor undergraduate and graduate students within the laboratory setting.
- Collaborate effectively within a research team while maintaining independent research initiatives.
Requirements
- PhD in rehabilitation science, kinesiology, exercise science/physiology, human movement, biomechanics, biomedical engineering, or a related field.
- Proven research productivity with a history of peer-reviewed publications and presentations.
- Direct experience working with human study participants.
- Strong proficiency in data management and statistical analysis.
- Excellent scientific writing and oral presentation skills.
- Fluency in the English language.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience specifically focused on women's health research.
- History of securing or a strong desire to pursue extramural funding (e.g., NIH fellowship awards).
- Technical experience with the measurement and analysis of strength, torque, electromyography, dynamometry, or motion capture of human gait.
- Background in muscle physiology and cardiovascular function.
