Postdoctoral Research Associate - Geomechanics and Computational Modelling

Responsibilities

• Deliver an ARC-funded research project focused on developing environmentally friendly drilling technology.
• Conduct advanced research activities including laboratory experiments and numerical modelling (FEM/CFD).
• Develop AI models to optimize drilling processes in real time.
• Translate research into tangible outcomes by building prototypes and validating models.
• Publish high-quality research outputs in peer-reviewed journals.

Requirements

• PhD in an academic field relevant to geomechanics, engineering, or a related discipline.
• Demonstrated knowledge of mechanics of solids, fracture mechanics, and thermodynamics.
• Expertise in computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and finite element modelling (FEM).
• Proven experience in conducting laboratory experiments and designing loading devices.
• Experience in designing and manufacturing demonstration prototypes.
• Experience in developing AI models for real-time optimization.
• Strong programming skills and a track record of research publications.
