About the role
Responsibilities
- Deliver an ARC-funded research project focused on developing environmentally friendly drilling technology.
- Conduct advanced research activities including laboratory experiments and numerical modelling (FEM/CFD).
- Develop AI models to optimize drilling processes in real time.
- Translate research into tangible outcomes by building prototypes and validating models.
- Publish high-quality research outputs in peer-reviewed journals.
Requirements
- PhD in an academic field relevant to geomechanics, engineering, or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated knowledge of mechanics of solids, fracture mechanics, and thermodynamics.
- Expertise in computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and finite element modelling (FEM).
- Proven experience in conducting laboratory experiments and designing loading devices.
- Experience in designing and manufacturing demonstration prototypes.
- Experience in developing AI models for real-time optimization.
- Strong programming skills and a track record of research publications.
