About the role

Responsibilities

  • Perform independent research on microfabricated biomedical sensors and readout circuitry
  • Design sensors, microfabrication processes, backend readout circuitry, and system-level packaging
  • Integrate sensors with microfluidic sample delivery systems and apply surface chemistry
  • Conduct benchtop testing to benchmark system performance
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and document research accomplishments for peer-reviewed journals
  • Report progress to project advisors, research collaborators, and funding sponsors

Requirements

  • PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
  • Experience with nano/microfabrication processes
  • Experience designing and testing in vitro or implantable sensors
  • Proficiency in printed circuit board (PCB) prototyping
  • Ability to perform data analysis using MATLAB or Python
  • Experience working with microcontrollers

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience with potentiostat systems
  • Background in neural engineering
  • Experience designing, packaging, and testing neural implants
  • Expertise in designing instrumentation for electrical stimulation of cells
