About the role

Responsibilities

  • Design, conduct, and analyze experiments using mouse models to study circadian, respiratory, metabolic, and neural circuit mechanisms
  • Perform physiological and behavioral assays, including whole-body plethysmography, light exposure paradigms, and metabolic phenotyping
  • Develop and troubleshoot experimental protocols in collaboration with the Principal Investigator
  • Analyze complex biological datasets using appropriate statistical and computational approaches
  • Prepare manuscripts, abstracts, posters, and presentations for peer-reviewed publication and scientific meetings
  • Contribute to grant reports, fellowship applications, and new research proposals
  • Mentor undergraduate and graduate students in experimental design, data collection, and scientific communication
  • Maintain organized laboratory records, animal protocols, and standard operating procedures

Requirements

  • Earned doctorate (or foreign equivalent) or an appropriate terminal degree
  • Strong communication and analytical skills
  • Thorough knowledge of laboratory practices and procedures
  • Proven ability to implement and manage research projects
  • Willingness to work flexible hours as necessary to support research needs

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in neuroscience, physiology, biology, circadian biology, metabolism, or a related field
  • Experience with animal research, specifically mouse models
  • Familiarity with physiological phenotyping such as indirect calorimetry or sleep/circadian assays
  • Technical expertise in histology, immunohistochemistry, microscopy, or viral approaches (chemogenetics)
  • Proficiency with statistical software or programming environments such as R, Python, MATLAB, or Prism
  • Commitment to reproducible research practices and a supportive training environment
