Basis is a nonprofit applied AI research organization dedicated to understanding and building intelligence. We aim to establish the mathematical principles of reasoning, learning, and decision-making while advancing society's ability to solve intractable problems through a new technological foundation.

Responsibilities

• Conduct independent and collaborative research focusing on computational theories of intelligence
• Disseminate research findings through academic publications and conference presentations
• Convert research into actionable insights and algorithms for knowledge transfer
• Provide mentorship to junior team members and contribute to scientific discourse via seminars and workshops

Requirements

• PhD in Computer Science, AI, Machine Learning, Computational Neuroscience, Cognitive Science, or related fields
• Demonstrated track record in scientific research (publications, technical reports, or impactful software)
• Ability to work in-person in the New York City or Boston areas

Preferred Qualifications

• Ability to contribute code to core technology
• Interest in bridging the gap between academic research and applied AI software
