About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead research projects focused on establishing in vitro gastrointestinal host immune-microbiome culture models for disease modeling and therapeutic development.
- Utilize cutting-edge technologies including organoid engineering, organ-on-a-chip platforms, microfluidics, and microbiome science.
- Study underlying mechanisms of intestinal inflammatory conditions such as Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, celiac disease, and eosinophilic esophagitis.
- Apply advanced methodologies including microbiome sequencing, single-cell transcriptomics, metagenomics, and proteomics.
- Collaborate with clinicians and investigators across The Jackson Laboratory, Connecticut Children’s, and UConn Health.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in biomedical sciences, bioengineering, microbiology, immunology, or a related field.
- Proven skillsets in cell and tissue engineering.
- Strong training background in bioengineering, immunoengineering, and cell biology.
- At least one first-author publication in a peer-reviewed journal.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work both independently and within a productive team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior research experience in gastroenterology.
- Experience with in vivo models and bacterial cultures.
- Knowledge of host-microbiome interactions and multi-omics approaches.
