About the role

Responsibilities

  • Study novel EphB1/2 tyrosine kinase inhibitors as candidate therapeutics for neuropathic pain.
  • Lead behavioral and pharmacological evaluation of novel compounds using surgical and chemical mouse models.
  • Conduct core behavioral assays including von Frey mechanical allodynia, hot plate thermal hyperalgesia, and acetone-evoked cold allodynia.
  • Perform experimental design and execute experiments using mouse and human brain material, cultured cells, and high-resolution fluorescence imaging.
  • Utilize biochemical and molecular biology approaches to define the pharmacological profile of lead compounds.
  • Record, quantify, and analyze experimental data while maintaining a proper data notebook.
  • Assist the Principal Investigator with data processing and writing IACUC protocols.

Requirements

  • PhD in Neuroscience, Pharmacology, Cell Biology, or a related field.
  • Strong background in neurobehavioral approaches for pain-related behavioral testing.
  • Proven experience in mouse brain and spinal cord tissue isolation.
  • Ability to work independently and perform essential research duties satisfactorily.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience working with human cells or postmortem tissue samples.
  • Demonstrated record of scientific achievements and publications.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to thrive in a collaborative research environment.
