About the role
Responsibilities
- Design, analyze, interpret, and present experiments regarding the molecular mechanisms of synaptic transmission regulation in mammalian brains and human neurons.
- Perform whole-cell patch clamp electrophysiology in brain slices and cell cultures.
- Conduct behavioral tests in mice and perform in vivo 2p imaging in head-fixed mice.
- Compile and analyze research data to support Child Health Institute research goals.
- Prepare manuscripts for publication and assist in developing grant applications.
- Participate in lab meetings, research seminars, and professional conferences.
- Assist in daily lab management, including the training and oversight of personnel and students.
Requirements
- PhD or MD in Neuroscience or a relevant biological science.
- Proven experience working with rodent animals and human embryonic cells.
- At least one first-author publication in a peer-reviewed journal.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong oral and written communication skills in English.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively under the guidance of a Principal Investigator.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience with brain slice patch-clamp recordings and optical imaging.
- Excellent scientific writing skills with experience drafting grants, fellowships, or manuscripts.
