About the role
Responsibilities
- Design, analyze, interpret, and present experiments regarding the pathophysiology of epilepsy and seizure disorders.
- Perform small animal surgeries and conduct molecular, cellular, and electrophysiological experiments.
- Support the development of wearable medical devices to prevent seizure-induced respiratory disruption.
- Oversee the research work of residents, junior research assistants, graduate students, and student workers.
- Assist with laboratory scientific operations and submit grant applications for independent research funding.
- Prepare manuscripts, written reports, and slides for scientific presentations and deliver oral presentations.
- Collaborate with internal and external researchers on data analysis and interpretation.
Requirements
- PhD in Neuroscience, Biomedical Engineering, or a closely related scientific field (candidates in ABD status will be considered).
- Experience with small animal surgery.
- Proficiency in molecular and cellular biology.
- Experience conducting electrophysiological experiments.
- Strong scientific writing and oral communication skills.
- Excellent time-management, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in collecting and analyzing complex biological data.
- Research experience specifically related to epilepsy, respiratory studies, or biomedical engineering in animal models.
- Solid background in experimental design and statistics.
- Background in computer science or advanced cell biology.
