Postdoctoral Appointee - Plasma Physics

Responsibilities

• Advance research and development in electromagnetic plasma physics applications, including radiation-driven phenomena and beam interactions.
• Perform complex analyses using in-house electromagnetic plasma software simulation suites.
• Utilize Department of Energy high-performance computing (HPC) facilities for large-scale simulations.
• Collaborate with experimental partner organizations to validate simulation capabilities.
• Contribute to the scientific community through journal publications and conference presentations.

Requirements

• PhD in physics, nuclear engineering, applied mathematics, or a related engineering discipline conferred within the last 5 years.
• Proven experience in the simulation of plasma physics phenomena.
• Proficiency in programming using scripting languages such as Python or shell.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q security clearance (requires U.S. citizenship).
• Ability to work onsite in Albuquerque, NM.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience validating plasma physics simulations using experimental data.
• Experience utilizing high-performance computing (HPC) resources.
• Scientific programming experience in C++.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and a demonstrated ability to work effectively in multi-disciplinary teams.
