Postdoctoral Appointee - Nanoparticle Synthesis

Responsibilities

• Research methods for controlling nanoparticle size, shape, and properties during wet chemical synthesis
• Explore microfluidic synthesis, AI-guided synthesis, and novel heating methods
• Develop new approaches to synthesize and assemble nanomaterials, specifically magnetic and catalytic nanoparticles
• Characterize resultant structures using multiple advanced techniques
• Collaborate with a broad, interdisciplinary team of scientists both locally and globally
• Communicate research results through high-impact journals and conference presentations

Requirements

• PhD in Chemistry or a related field conferred within 5 years of the start date
• Direct experience with nanoparticle synthesis
• Documented experience in both oral presentations and published scientific communication
• Ability to work onsite in Albuquerque, NM

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with high-temperature nanoparticle synthesis
• Proficiency in nanoparticle characterization using Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) or X-ray techniques
• Experience with microfluidic chip fabrication and chemical process integration
• Knowledge of autonomous experimentation, Bayesian optimization, or AI/ML-driven experimental workflows
• Ability to automate data collection using custom Python code
• Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously or working in a user facility
