About the role
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement multi-modal materials characterization platforms for microelectronics
- Design integrated circuits and oversee device fabrication processes
- Perform circuit design, simulation, layout, and tapeout to support system development
- Design and execute experiments to understand materials challenges for integrating functionalities with CMOS
- Collaborate with a diverse team of experimentalists and theorists in semiconductor physics
Requirements
- PhD in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related discipline (conferred within the last 5 years)
- Experience in at least one of the following: IC layout and tapeout, device fabrication, or electrical characterization of solid-state materials/devices
- Proficiency in instrumentation and data analysis using Python, Matlab, or C++
- A strong record of technical achievement evidenced by first-author publications in scientific journals
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q security clearance (requires U.S. citizenship)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with cryogenic systems below 10 Kelvin
- Experience with materials characterization techniques such as x-rays, electron microscopy, scanning probe microscopy, Raman microscopy, photoluminescence, or photocurrent
- Cleanroom fabrication experience
