About the role
Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day operational needs of the Postdoctoral Affairs Office
- Act as the primary contact for enquiries regarding funding opportunities, research award administration, and policy interpretation
- Advise academic and administrative staff on financial matters, reporting requirements, and payroll discrepancies
- Liaise with internal contacts to resolve accounting, payroll, and HRIS processing issues
- Verify that personnel transactions adhere to applicable policies, procedures, and collective agreements
- Support the onboarding of new postdoctoral fellows and maintain accurate personnel records
- Reconcile accounts, generate financial reports, and resolve individual financial discrepancies
- Implement process improvements for administrative workflows and maintain unit database records
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in financial management, commerce, or a related discipline (or an equivalent combination of education and experience)
- Minimum five years of recent experience in financial administration and awards management
- Experience in a post-secondary or research-intensive institution
- Demonstrated experience supporting personnel and payroll administration
- Knowledge of collective agreements and personnel administration within a university setting
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite and high degree of computer literacy
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Direct experience supporting postdoctoral fellows
- Experience processing transactions within an HRIS
