About the role

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement innovative hybrid wheat breeding strategies to accelerate genetic gain for yield, stress tolerance, and grain quality.
  • Apply novel breeding methodologies, including heterotic grouping, rapid cycling, and genomic/phenotypic selection.
  • Contribute to phenotypic and genotypic data management and analysis.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams in wheat pathology, quality, molecular biology, and biometrics.
  • Support capacity development activities and training for partners in Asia, Africa, and Latin America.
  • Synthesize and present scientific findings through reports and publications in international peer-reviewed journals.

Requirements

  • Recent PhD in plant breeding or genetics.
  • Experience in cereal hybrid breeding systems (wheat breeding experience is highly desirable).
  • Strong statistical skills and expertise in data management, electronic data collection, and databases.
  • Demonstrated ability to publish research in reputable journals and present at scientific forums.
  • Fluency in English (written and oral); knowledge of Spanish is a plus.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a diverse, multicultural, and multidisciplinary environment.
