About the role

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research and scholarship regarding the historical ideas, traditions, and texts that have shaped the American constitutional order and society
  • Lead up to four weekly discussion seminars per semester for the Center’s flagship civics course, The American Republic
  • Design and deliver research-related seminars and workshops for colleagues within the Center and the wider university community
  • Participate in-person in public events sponsored by the Center
  • Engage in scholarly activities that support the mission of the Center for Civics, Culture and Society

Requirements

  • Ph.D. or J.D. in law, political science, philosophy, economics, literature, history, classics, sociology, or a related field
  • Recent graduate (within the last four years) of a graduate program
  • Not currently employed full-time in an academic institution
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent public speaking and presentation skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in research writing
  • Previous teaching experience
  • Advanced knowledge in the interdependency of political science, philosophy, economics, literature, history, classics, and sociology
