Responsibilities

• Lead governance and assurance practices across complex IT programmes and portfolios
• Manage a portfolio of large-scale applications and infrastructure projects
• Provide oversight of risks, issues, dependencies, financials, reporting, and delivery outcomes
• Coordinate multiple programme streams to provide a single portfolio view for stakeholders
• Drive portfolio planning, scheduling, resource management, and prioritisation activities
• Undertake portfolio health checks and assurance reviews
• Build trusted relationships with government stakeholders, vendors, and internal teams
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives across portfolio delivery practices
• Support and mentor programme and project delivery teams
• Ensure contractual obligations, governance requirements, and quality standards are achieved

Requirements

• Minimum 15 years’ experience in project, programme, or portfolio management within IT
• Recent experience leading complex IT programmes or portfolios in enterprise environments
• Proven experience working with Government Agencies
• Strong understanding of portfolio governance, risk management, and financial oversight
• Demonstrated experience managing large infrastructure and applications projects
• Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills
• New Zealand Citizenship is required
• Ability to pass government clearance and police check processes
• Based in Wellington and available to work onsite

Preferred Qualifications

• PRINCE2, PMP, MSP, or Agile certifications
• Experience with enterprise architecture alignment and IT governance frameworks
• Experience within large enterprise or professional services environments
• MBA or relevant tertiary qualification in IT, Business, or Engineering
