Portfolio Building Engineering Manager

Responsibilities

• Supervise, coach, and develop a team of Building Engineers and Maintenance Technicians across multiple assets
• Provide advanced troubleshooting and optimization for HVAC systems, including central plants, boilers, chillers, and AHUs
• Oversee electrical distribution, emergency power, UPS systems, and lighting controls
• Manage building automation systems (BAS/BMS) to optimize energy performance and reliability
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA, ASHRAE, and lab-related operational guidelines
• Oversee laboratory waste systems, including pH neutralization and acid waste piping
• Contribute to multi-year capital plans for equipment replacements and infrastructure improvements
• Manage vendor performance and assist with budget development (OPEX, R&M, utilities)

Requirements

• 7–10+ years in commercial property or building engineering
• 3+ years of experience supervising multi-site or large-site teams
• Experience supporting life science, medical office, biotech, or laboratory environments
• Strong knowledge of HVAC central plants, BAS/BMS, and electrical distribution
• Proficiency with CMMS, BAS front-ends, and MS 365
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between sites
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and access mechanical rooms/rooftops

Preferred Qualifications

• CFC/EPA 608 Universal certification
• Manufacturer training for chillers, boilers, or BAS
• Lab safety or related technical training
• Wastewater License
