About the role
Responsibilities
- Ensure equipment is maintained to company standards
- Coordinate vessel maintenance, repairs, and downtime with engineering managers
- Work with vendors to schedule and coordinate maintenance and repairs
- Assist Chief Engineer with repairs underway or dockside
- Conduct annual performance evaluations with vessel engineers
- Manage vessel maintenance records in the HELM program
- Manage costs for repairs and purchasing to control maintenance expenses
- Collaborate with operations for scheduling and perform special technical assignments
- Conduct at least three vessel visits yearly on assigned vessels
Requirements
- 2-3 years of related experience
- Associate’s degree, technical school, or diesel college education preferred
- Valid driver's license
- Working knowledge of engines, gears, generators, hydraulics, and basic electrical systems
- Intermediate Microsoft Office skills
- Ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems remotely
- Physical ability to transit work environments including climbing and confined spaces
- Ability to work in extreme weather and on uneven surfaces
- Availability for a 24-hour/day and weekend rotating on-call schedule
