About the role
Responsibilities
- Support policy and communications activities to advocate for the public radio system and engage with lawmakers and the public
- Draft campaign collateral for state-level efforts to defend and deepen support for public radio
- Create backgrounders, templates, and resources for Member organizations to educate stakeholders about the value of public radio
- Support campaign management and perform legislative or stakeholder research tasks
- Assist with grassroots campaign activities and participate in primary advocacy activations like Public Radio Music Day and Rural Voices Day
- Provide administrative support for in-person and virtual campaign or educational events
Requirements
- Current student in an accredited degree program or a recent graduate (within 12 months)
- Academic focus in public policy, political science, or communications
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Basic knowledge of legislative processes in state legislatures and Congress
- Nonpartisan advocacy experience in state or federal government
- Strong project management skills and a collaborative working style
- Commitment to bipartisanship and a willingness to learn about the public radio system
Preferred Qualifications
- Working knowledge of design software
- Experience with WordPress and/or MailChimp
