Policy and External Affairs Communications Lead

Responsibilities

• Lead communications strategy across Block's policy and external affairs work to drive economic empowerment
• Partner with Policy, Legal, Risk, and business teams to shape external narratives
• Ensure Block's policy positions are accurately reflected in external communications, particularly in high-visibility moments
• Advance policy positions through media, digital platforms, and key industry forums
• Build and manage external engagement strategies, including media relationships, op-eds, and editorial boards
• Translate complex regulatory issues into simple, durable narratives that resonate externally

Requirements

• Background in policy communications, public affairs, or issues-driven storytelling in a technology or regulated environment
• Ability to translate dense policy topics into clear, human language
• Experience engaging external stakeholders
• Excellent writing skills
• Strong judgment and ability to navigate complex, high-stakes external situations
• Proactive mindset focused on shaping narratives and building understanding
