Police Officer

Responsibilities

• Patrol buildings and grounds on foot or vehicle to ensure a secure environment and respond to emergencies.
• Monitor roadway traffic conditions and parking permits to ensure safe traffic flow.
• Conduct criminal and accident investigations, including gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses.
• Perform administrative duties such as logging incidents and completing detailed police reports.
• Foster positive relationships with students, faculty, and staff through community policing and liaison programs.
• Make arrests or issue citations when appropriate and provide security for special campus events.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Ohio Driver’s License.
• Successful completion of the Ohio Peace Officer basic training program.
• Successful completion of the NEOMED Police Department’s field training program.
• For Officer II: Minimum of two years of college credits in criminal justice or a related field.
• For Officer II: Minimum of three years of full-time law enforcement experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous law enforcement experience (Officer I).
• Prior supervisory experience (Officer II).
