Police Officer

Responsibilities

• Ensure the security of life, property, and equipment through armed patrol by vehicle and on foot
• Enforce Lafayette College rules, regulations, City Ordinances, and Federal and State laws
• Investigate reports of criminal activity and document interactions in the record management system
• Provide security for campus buildings and respond to fire, burglary, and panic alarms
• Direct traffic and investigate motor vehicle accidents
• Provide essential services including medical transports, motorist assists, and money escorts
• Conduct crime awareness programs in collaboration with Resident Advisors
• Provide security presence at special campus events

Requirements

• Completion of PA Act 120 training
• Certifiable under the Act 235 Lethal Weapons Training Act
• Ability to be commissioned as a police officer under Section 501 of the Non-Profit Corporation Law
• Compliance with Section 7504 of the Pennsylvania Crimes Code
• Pennsylvania residency at the time of appointment
• Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills (verbal and written)
• Ability to work closely with students, staff, faculty, and the general public

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience as a community-oriented police officer
