Police Detective Sergeant

Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed and thorough criminal investigations and process crime scenes
• Collect, track, and manage evidence and conduct witness interviews
• Serve as a liaison between law enforcement and campus partners including Student Conduct, Housing, and Title IX
• Provide specialized services to the patrol division for complex criminal cases
• Offer training and guidance to department members to enhance patrol effectiveness
• Respond to campus in an on-call capacity to lead investigations and provide advice to on-duty personnel
• Ensure compliance with all college policies and federal, state, and local laws

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Minimum of 2 years of law enforcement experience conducting investigations, serving warrants, or working in a crime suppression/investigative unit
• Georgia State Certified (P.O.S.T) police officer standards and training
• Valid Georgia Driver’s License
• Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting up to 40 lbs and using force to effect arrests if necessary

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university
• 5+ years of law enforcement experience
• Specialized background in criminal investigations
