Plumbing Technician

Responsibilities

• Perform plumbing duties for building alterations, maintenance, and repair projects
• Install, alter, replace, and repair water, sewage, and drainage systems
• Cut, bend, assemble, and install pipes, fittings, and fixtures for water, sanitary, drainage, heating, and gas systems
• Thread, ream, assemble, caulk, solder, and weld various pipes and component parts
• Install and repair valves, fittings, and equipment including hot water boilers, sterilizers, and steam tables
• Check fixtures for leaks and clean clogged drains, pipes, and traps
• Advise on selecting, ordering, and storing plumbing supplies and equipment

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Formal classroom training in plumbing work
• Experience in plumbing repair, maintenance, and installation in construction, commercial, or residential environments
• Proficient mechanical aptitude and ability to operate necessary tools and equipment
• Knowledge of machines and tools used in the construction or repair of buildings
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
