About the role
Responsibilities
- Perform journey-level plumbing functions including inspecting, maintaining, repairing, and installing campus infrastructure and building systems.
- Assemble, install, and repair pipes made of metals (iron, steel, brass, copper, lead) and nonmetals (glass, vitrified clay, plastic).
- Install and repair pipe fittings, valves, and fixtures for heating, water, and drainage systems.
- Perform backflow testing on various plumbing systems as required.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical specifications to develop layouts and troubleshoot systems.
- Operate and maintain plumbing trade tools, including oxyacetylene torches, soldering equipment, and mechanical pipe threaders.
- Ensure job site cleanliness and adherence to safety practices, including OSHA and ADA requirements.
Requirements
- Completion of a certified 4-year trade-related apprenticeship or equivalent experience and education.
- Demonstrated experience in domestic, industrial, commercial, or process piping.
- Valid California Class C Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record.
- Valid City of Los Angeles or California State Journeyman Plumbing License.
- Backflow Prevention Certification.
- Medical Gas Piping and Medical Brazing Certification.
- Proficiency in reading blueprints and performing mathematical calculations for layouts and offsets.
- Ability to work in various environments, including confined spaces, and lift up to 50 lbs.
