Plating Process Development Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design and execute experiments related to novel materials and manufacturing processes in electrochemical deposition
• Characterize deposited microstructures and coordinate internal and external analytical laboratory projects
• Support the research, development, and implementation of new materials and technologies
• Troubleshoot plating quality issues and work with chemical and equipment suppliers to introduce new processes
• Integrate and transition novel plating technologies into production processes and products
• Facilitate new plating technologies through product testing and production process qualifications
• Maintain lab procedure documents to ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in electro-plating, electrolytic plating, or similar surface coating processes
• Proven experience in Reel-to-Reel or Strip Line plating
• Hands-on experience with Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and chemical spectroscopic methods
• Ability to work in a chemical environment and handle heavy drums of chemicals using a drum dolly
• Physical ability to stand, lift, and walk on a continual basis
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, or an equivalent field
• Training in Lean manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, Statistical Process Control (SPC), or Six Sigma
• Experience in the operation and maintenance of analytical equipment
