Platform Team Lead

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of 5 senior engineers working on high-impact platform projects
• Help grow the team to 8 through interviewing and candidate calibration
• Coordinate across engineering teams to align priorities and unblock dependencies
• Write and review Go code daily while setting standards for quality and design
• Optimize MySQL performance including query tuning, indexing, and schema design
• Participate in on-call rotations and lead incident response
• Establish engineering principles regarding observability, documentation, and testing
• Run 1:1s, performance reviews, and career development conversations
• Translate business priorities into an executable technical roadmap

Requirements

• Proven management experience leading a team of 5+ senior engineers
• Deep MySQL knowledge including optimization and performance tuning under load
• Experience operating production systems, incident response, and observability
• Experience with functional programming concepts and languages
• Track record of establishing engineering principles and code quality standards
• Ability to work across team boundaries and navigate competing priorities
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Haskell
• Experience leading platform or infrastructure teams specifically
• Background scaling systems with high concurrency or large data volumes
• Experience hiring senior engineers in competitive markets
