Platform Engineer - Database

Responsibilities

• Support, monitor, and provision pre-production and production application and integration environments.
• Implement and support integrations between on-premise systems and hybrid third-party solutions.
• Manage the installation, configuration, upgrades, and patching of database applications.
• Use observability tools to create dashboards and surface key metrics to support product teams.
• Utilize automated tools like Azure DevOps, GitLab, and GitHub for release management and pipeline maintenance.
• Leverage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform and Ansible for configuration management.
• Automate repeatable processes to improve platform reliability and efficiency.

Requirements

• Extensive experience with Oracle technology, specifically Oracle 19c RAC, Grid Infrastructure, ASM, and Data Guard.
• Proven administration experience with MySQL (Unix/RHEL preferred) and SQL Server (2016+ including Clustering/Always On).
• Experience managing PostgreSQL in cloud or on-premise environments.
• Proficiency in Azure Cloud managing and supporting SQL databases (Azure SQL, Managed Instance, etc.).
• Hands-on experience with IaC tools such as Terraform and Ansible.
• Unrestricted Australian work rights (sponsorship is not available).

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with database migration to cloud environments.
• Familiarity with observability and monitoring tools like New Relic or Datadog.
• Experience working within an Agile environment using Jira.
• Knowledge of AWS or OCI cloud services.
