Platform Engineer

About the Company

Breaker is building AI agents that turn any robot into a truly autonomous, self-organising teammate. By enabling natural language command over existing radio hardware, Breaker is fundamentally changing the operator-to-robot ratio for drones, ground vehicles, and maritime systems.

Responsibilities

• Own the CI/CD platform end-to-end, including pipeline design, stability, and observability via GitLab
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for robotics codebases
• Manage AWS cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
• Containerise simulation and robotics workloads using Docker
• Automate testing to close the loop between simulation and field deployment
• Optimise build processes, including Dockerfile restructuring and caching strategies
• Establish observability, reporting, and alerting across platform systems
• Champion a shift-left approach and GitOps methodology
• Partner with software engineers to unblock development and mentor the team on platform best practices

Requirements

• 5–7+ years of experience in DevOps or Platform Engineering
• Deep expertise in GitLab CI/CD (architecture, runners, and administration)
• Strong AWS experience including IaC (Terraform/CloudFormation), networking, and compute
• Advanced Docker knowledge (multi-stage builds, image optimisation)
• Strong Linux systems administration and package management skills
• Experience with GitOps workflows and automation-first infrastructure
• Working rights in Australia

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in startup or scale-up environments
• Familiarity with robotics or embedded systems build tooling (e.g., ROS 2)
• Experience with hardware-in-the-loop test infrastructure
• Exposure to MLOps workflows, GPU infrastructure, or model lifecycle tooling
• Experience with compliance frameworks like ITAR or CMMC
