Platform Backend Engineer

Responsibilities

• Build and optimize ETL pipelines for high-volume, low-latency streaming sensor data
• Design and maintain backend services for real-time dashboards and AI model outputs
• Contribute to platform automation and alerting layers using AI tools
• Solve data modeling problems at the intersection of operational technology and modern data infrastructure
• Collaborate with forward-deployed engineers to integrate real-world client constraints into the platform

Requirements

• 2+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Proficiency in Python and at least one other high-level language
• Strong foundations in data structures and algorithms
• Experience with relational and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL and MongoDB preferred)
• Comfort with Unix/Linux environments
• Experience shipping code within existing, mature codebases
• Fluency with AI development tools and agentic workflows
• Strong portfolio of side projects or open-source contributions

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Azure Cloud
• Exposure to ETL or large-scale data ingestion
• Familiarity with statistical technologies like R
• Exposure to Industrial IoT, manufacturing systems, or OT environments
