About the role

Responsibilities

  • Develop, validate, and optimize plastic injection molding processes for new and existing products
  • Lead process development activities including mold trials and production readiness
  • Analyze molding performance to enhance quality, reduce scrap, and improve cycle times
  • Partner with Tooling and Product Development on mold design reviews and new product launches
  • Evaluate and recommend plastic materials and resins based on performance and cost
  • Utilize scientific molding principles and statistical methods to establish robust processes
  • Troubleshoot molding defects such as flash, short shots, sink marks, and warpage
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to Process Technicians and production personnel

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Plastics, Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Polymer Engineering
  • Experience with plastic injection molding processes in manufacturing
  • Knowledge of polymer materials, resin behavior, and mold design
  • Understanding of statistical methodologies including DOE, SPC, and root cause analysis
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with scientific molding methodologies and RJG training
  • Knowledge of automation, robotics, and vision systems
  • Experience with 3D CAD software
  • Working knowledge of metrology equipment like CMMs or CT scanning
  • Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma certifications
