Plant/Transport Officer

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular audits and inspections of company vehicles and plant machinery across all sites
• Verify adherence to statutory regulations including DVSA, PUWER, and LOLER
• Monitor driver and operator compliance regarding driving hours and tachograph regulations
• Contribute to the development and implementation of vehicle and plant compliance policies
• Investigate compliance breaches, incidents, and near misses to identify root causes
• Prepare comprehensive compliance reports for management highlighting risks and trends
• Develop and deliver training and toolbox talks to employees and operators
• Identify and mitigate potential compliance risks

Requirements

• Knowledge of UK road transport legislation (DVSA, O-licence) and H&S regulations (PUWER, LOLER)
• Experience conducting audits, inspections, and incident investigations
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Analytical skills for data interpretation and report production
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel frequently across UK sites

Preferred Qualifications

• NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent health and safety qualification
• Experience with fleet management or compliance management software
• Knowledge of ISO standards (ISO 45001, ISO 9001)
