Plant Lab Pack Chemist I

Responsibilities

• Handle hazardous materials including inventorying, identifying, segregating, and packaging waste material
• Perform onsite services such as waste collection, consolidation, sampling, and safety inspections
• Prepare shipments by inspecting, labeling, marking, and loading transport vehicles
• Complete documentation including shipping papers, Land Disposal Restrictions (LDRs), and certifications
• Follow and promote all Health & Safety and Job Safety Analysis (JSA) procedures
• Perform unknown field testing for classification and packaging
• Mentor and assist new employees in lab pack duties

Requirements

• Associate degree in General Science or equivalent experience
• Minimum one year of lab pack experience
• 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification
• 40 hours Depack experience
• 8 hours DOT training
• PPE training including Respirators
• Advanced knowledge of EPA and DOT regulations
• Physical ability to lift and move materials exceeding 55 lbs
• Clean driving record

Preferred Qualifications

• BS/BA in a science-related field
• Basic understanding of chemistry or biology
