Planning & Optimization Engineer

Responsibilities

• Define, maintain, and evolve standard modeling frameworks and requirements for enterprise planning and optimization tools.
• Partner with Operations Research and planning teams to align model structures, assumptions, and configurations with approved technical standards.
• Lead efforts to harmonize model logic, constraints, and inputs across different regions and assets to ensure scalability and comparability.
• Provide technical guidance and hands-on support during the deployment and configuration of standardized models.
• Ensure all model configurations comply with governance standards through formal change-control routing and documentation.
• Participate in model exception reviews and provide technical analysis for resolution or escalation.
• Document model assumptions, decision logic, and constraints to support transparency and auditability.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, or a related field.
• 4+ years of experience working with planning and optimization models.
• Expertise in tools such as Aspen PIMS, Aspen APS, Aspen PSCP, or AIMMS.
• Strong technical standardization and change-control discipline.
• Ability to understand end-to-end model interdependencies within complex systems.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in a cross-functional environment with planners, schedulers, and optimization teams.
• Proven ability to manage version control and technical rigor in a professional engineering environment.
