Planning Engineer

Responsibilities

• Coordinate all system users and network outages impacting the distribution network from two years ahead up to day-ahead timescales.
• Apply high technical standards to network outage planning for the Distribution network.
• Work with System Operators and transmission network planners to ensure the network remains safe and secure.
• Develop contingency plans and risk mitigation strategies to secure customers during major planned work on the Transmission & Distribution network.
• Establish and maintain excellent relationships with major customers and business areas across Energy Networks.
• Assist the Control Room with the delivery of all planned Distribution outages.

Requirements

• Engineering qualification (Electrical Engineering preferred) at Degree or HNC level.
• Significant relevant experience in an operational role.
• Knowledge of PowerOn and PI systems.
• Proficiency in power system analysis tools and techniques, including load flow and contingency analysis.
• Strong understanding of Company Safety Rules and procedures for working on HV electrical equipment.
• Working knowledge of health, safety, and environmental legislation.
• Ability to devise solutions to complex technical problems and challenges.
