Planner I

Responsibilities

• Administer short-term planning actions, land-use petitions, permit issuance, and subdivision applications
• Learn principles related to land use and planning, including code enforcement, policy development, and physical inspections
• Provide customer service by responding to inquiries, researching policy interpretations, and providing technical information
• Review applications and submittals at the Permit Center for completeness and compliance with County requirements
• Perform field inspections to determine pre-project site conditions and monitor post-permit compliance
• Assist with the general administration of the Code Enforcement program, including site investigations and public hearing presentations
• Support the development and monitoring of performance standards, ordinances, and building codes

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Urban/Regional Planning or a closely related field
• Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Ability to perform field inspections in various outdoor weather conditions
• Valid driver’s license for conducting County business and field work
• Ability to communicate ideas and recommendations clearly, both orally and in writing
