PKI and Cryptography Engineering Lead

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the PKI team, fostering collaboration, performance, and continuous improvement.
• Oversee the full lifecycle of digital certificates, including issuance, renewal, revocation, and auditing.
• Evaluate and implement certificate automation tools and platforms such as Venafi, DigiCert, or Microsoft CA.
• Design and maintain secure PKI architectures, including root and subordinate CAs, OCSP responders, and HSM integrations.
• Develop and enforce certificate policies, standards, and procedures aligned with industry best practices.
• Collaborate with security, infrastructure, and application teams to support secure authentication and encryption services.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree and 5 years of Information Security experience with at least 1 year of lead experience, OR
• Master's degree and 3 years of Information Security experience with at least 1 year of lead experience, OR
• 8 years of Information Security experience with at least 1 year of lead experience.
• Must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis to be employed in the United States (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee, or Asylee).

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of X.509 certificates, TLS/SSL, S/MIME, code signing, and certificate-based authentication.
• Hands-on experience with enterprise PKI tools (e.g., Microsoft AD CS, Venafi, DigiCert, Entrust) in on-premises and cloud environments.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) deployments and DevOps/CI/CD integration for certificate automation.
• Deep understanding of HSMs, key management, and cryptographic protocols.
• Experience with cloud-based PKI in Azure, AWS, or GCP.
• Knowledge of compliance frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001, and SOC 2.
