Piping Engineer (Fabrication)

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and supervise piping fabrication activities to ensure compliance with project schedules and requirements.
• Review and interpret piping isometric drawings, P&IDs, GA drawings, specifications, and construction work packs.
• Ensure all fabrication activities comply with international codes and standards, including ASME B31.3, ASME Section IX, API, and ASTM.
• Supervise pipe cutting, fit-up, welding, spool fabrication, assembly, and dimensional inspection.
• Prepare and review fabrication work packages, material take-offs (MTO), and bills of materials (BOM).
• Coordinate with Engineering, Procurement, QA/QC, and Construction teams to ensure smooth project execution.
• Monitor weld quality, repair rates, and productivity, implementing corrective actions as necessary.
• Coordinate and monitor NDT, PWHT, hydrotesting, and other inspection activities.
• Ensure proper material identification, traceability, storage, and handling throughout the fabrication process.
• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly fabrication progress and productivity reports.
• Promote a strong safety culture and conduct regular toolbox talks within fabrication teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent field.
• 13–16 years of experience in piping fabrication within Oil & Gas, Refinery, Petrochemical, LNG, or EPC projects.
• Strong knowledge of piping fabrication, welding, NDT, hydrotesting, and material control.
• Deep understanding of international codes and standards such as ASME B31.3, ASME Section IX, API, and ASTM.
• Proficiency in reading engineering drawings, isometrics, and P&IDs.
• Excellent leadership, planning, and problem-solving skills.
