Pilot Plant Technician

Responsibilities

• Process chemical products using batch sheet instructions and set up raw materials in the development lab.
• Operate chemical processing equipment and instrumentation according to engineering diagrams.
• Collect samples and conduct lab analyses, such as colorimetric titrations and viscosity measurements.
• Load and unload material containers including pails, drums, bags, and totes.
• Clean and prepare equipment, including performing Lock Out Tag Out prior to maintenance.
• Track and record process information, production data, and technical findings.
• Troubleshoot equipment and processes to recommend improvements.
• Perform safety audits, inspections, and general housekeeping (5S).
• Participate in the plant emergency response team (ERT).

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent from an accredited school.
• 5+ years of experience in manufacturing and/or the chemical industry.
• Strong understanding of hazardous materials and safety procedures (MSDS, JSA’s, etc.).
• Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot problems.
• Basic math, reading, and computer skills.
• Ability to lift up to 55 lbs and move drums via dolly weighing up to 500 lbs.
• Ability to work a 12-hour night shift (Monday – Thursday, 7pm-7am).
• Willingness to wear SCBA and maintain a clean-shaven appearance for respirator usage.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous chemical operating experience.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word, Excel).
• Knowledge of chemistry and chemical hazards.
• Experience with SAP.
• Previous forklift experience.
