Pilot Plant Operator

Responsibilities

• Operate PVC pilot plant reactors and associated equipment in a safe, efficient, and environmentally sound manner
• Monitor, adjust, and accurately record reaction variables including temperatures, pressures, and agitator RPMs
• Follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Safety Procedures (SPs)
• Handle hazardous chemicals safely, including proper labeling and movement of containers
• Lead the Emergency Response Team (ERT) as the Incident Commander for HS&E activities
• Perform troubleshooting on chemical plant equipment and execute minor maintenance repairs
• Operate VCM Tank Farm equipment, including unloading railcars and transferring/recovering VCM
• Maintain detailed end-of-shift status reports and technical logs
• Mentor operators and operator technicians to maintain high operational standards

Requirements

• Experience operating PVC reactors and associated chemical processing equipment
• Ability to read and understand P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams) and MSDS
• Proven ability to troubleshoot chemical plant equipment and perform minor maintenance
• Experience handling hazardous chemicals and managing spills or releases
• Ability to lead emergency response activities and act as an incident commander
• Proficiency in using math functions to calculate chemical weights for experiments
• Ability to work a rotating schedule (6am-6pm)
