About the role

Responsibilities

  • Supervise pilot plant operations and operators to scale products from lab to commercial scale in continuous extrusion and melt compounding operations.
  • Develop and coach pilot line operators through annual reviews, career development discussions, and timely feedback.
  • Coordinate priorities, scheduling, and reporting for continuous reactive extrusion and secondary processing.
  • Manage the pilot line schedule and communicate priorities to stakeholders on a bi-weekly basis.
  • Determine bill of material needs and collaborate with Procurement for raw material sourcing.
  • Lead strategic initiatives including capital expansions, business processes, and organizational improvements.
  • Design processes, prepare engineering estimates, and coordinate capital projects for pilot plant equipment.
  • Ensure strict compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) procedures, including PSM and LOTO.
  • Manage pilot line expenses and capital budgets, participating in monthly budget reviews.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science (B.S.) or higher in Chemical Engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years of manufacturing operations experience.
  • 2-5 years of pilot or manufacturing operations experience.
  • Strong hands-on mechanical and chemical process-engineering skills.
  • Proficiency in experimental design (DOE) and statistical data analysis.
  • Strong project management skills utilizing stage-gate systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of chemical and polymer unit operations and equipment design.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous personnel management experience.
  • Experience managing both internal and external customer expectations.
