About the role

Responsibilities

  • Support optimization projects and implement new technologies in bioprocessing facilities through process design and scale-up studies.
  • Evaluate, optimize, and troubleshoot processes to maximize yield, purity, and activity of end products.
  • Prepare P&IDs, mass and energy balances, and scoping/sizing documentation for pilot equipment.
  • Perform design of experiments (DoE) for bench and pilot trials focused on scale-up and scale-down of bioprocessing technologies.
  • Collaborate with external vendors and contractors to specify, purchase, and install new equipment.
  • Provide technical support during field implementation, including writing SOPs and training plant operators.
  • Maintain detailed laboratory notebooks and prepare technical reports and presentations for stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology, or chemical/biological engineering.
  • Experience in research or operations support within the food or chemical industry.
  • Proficiency in wet chemistry and standard microbiological lab techniques.
  • Familiarity with fermentation, biological fractionation, enzyme assays, and statistical analysis.
  • Experience working with cGMP manufacturing operations and GLP principles.
  • Willingness to travel and work in industrial environments (climbing stairs/ladders, walking long distances).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a related scientific or engineering field.
  • Experience evaluating or piloting new technologies.
  • Hands-on experience with scalable process parameters for unit operations such as centrifugation, membrane filtration, and sterile filtration.
