About the role

Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement individualized treatment programs to restore physical functioning and cardio-respiratory health
  • Conduct initial screenings and formal/informal assessments of patients' physical, functional, psychosocial, and cognitive status
  • Gather patient information through interviews, observation, and review of health records
  • Collaborate with interprofessional team members during rounds, clinics, and case management meetings
  • Communicate clinical impressions and diagnoses to patients, care partners, and the healthcare team
  • Implement modifications to treatment programs based on changing patient needs
  • Participate in the education of students, hospital staff, and the community
  • Lead or participate in research studies and monitor quality indicators for the clinical unit

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Science (Physiotherapy) or a recognized equivalent
  • Current registration with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario
  • Minimum of one year of related clinical experience
  • Proven experience in the assessment and treatment of critical care, acute surgical, and general medicine patients
  • Proficiency in oxygen titration and suctioning skills
  • Ability to perform the physical demands of the job

Preferred Qualifications

  • Membership in the Canadian Physiotherapy Association
