About the role

Responsibilities

  • Provide outstanding undergraduate instruction for introductory to mid-level physics courses, including both lecture and laboratory components.
  • Teach topics such as mechanics, wave phenomena, electricity, magnetism, relativity, and quantum theory.
  • Mentor students and support their academic success through student-centered pedagogy.
  • Collaborate with other units within the College of Arts and Sciences and participate in campus science programs and service.
  • Utilize a broad range of learning resources and technologies to engage a diverse student population.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Physics or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience or potential for teaching using student-centered pedagogy practices.
  • Demonstrated record of supporting, or potential to support, access and opportunity in teaching and service in alignment with WSU's land-grant mission.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience teaching both lecture and laboratory courses.
  • Ability to use and develop new teaching approaches that advance the pedagogy of physics.
