About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide teaching support services for undergraduate physics laboratories.
- Collaborate with staff and course instructors to determine and execute lab setup requirements.
- Set up labs and workshops according to research and course schedules.
- Demonstrate experimental procedures, lab techniques, and protocols to students.
- Troubleshoot issues with laboratory equipment, workstations, and routine hardware/software.
- Serve as the first point of contact for general laboratory enquiries and technical guidance.
- Ensure all equipment is functional, maintained, and available for scheduled use.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in Physics and/or Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of two years of related experience in a physics laboratory setting.
- Demonstrated experience troubleshooting equipment such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, function generators, and multi-meters.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with excellent organizational abilities.
- Physical stamina for daily walking, standing, and occasional lifting.
- Availability for evening shifts until 10:00 PM on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Preferred Qualifications
- Soldering skills.
- Experience using smart telescopes.
- First aid and CPR training.
