About the role

Responsibilities

  • Provide teaching support services for undergraduate physics laboratories.
  • Collaborate with staff and course instructors to determine and execute lab setup requirements.
  • Set up labs and workshops according to research and course schedules.
  • Demonstrate experimental procedures, lab techniques, and protocols to students.
  • Troubleshoot issues with laboratory equipment, workstations, and routine hardware/software.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for general laboratory enquiries and technical guidance.
  • Ensure all equipment is functional, maintained, and available for scheduled use.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Physics and/or Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of two years of related experience in a physics laboratory setting.
  • Demonstrated experience troubleshooting equipment such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, function generators, and multi-meters.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with excellent organizational abilities.
  • Physical stamina for daily walking, standing, and occasional lifting.
  • Availability for evening shifts until 10:00 PM on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Soldering skills.
  • Experience using smart telescopes.
  • First aid and CPR training.
