About the role
Responsibilities
- Act as content expert for HIV prevention and treatment-related care
- Obtain medical and sexual histories and conduct physical examinations
- Order relevant stat and microbiologic testing
- Make presumptive diagnoses of STIs and provide treatment
- Provide Post Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP) and Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP)
- Provide contraception options and vaccinations (Hepatitis A/B, Meningitis, HPV)
- Arrange referrals to other services as needed
- Provide health education to patients
- Work with PrEP navigators, mental health specialists, and HIV case managers
- Possibly rotate on the telemedicine service
Requirements
- Valid license to practice medicine in the State of New York
- Valid Board Certification or approved application for admission to a certifying examination
- For Assignment Level II: One year of satisfactory experience in the specialty area
- For Assignment Level III: Master's degree in Public Health (or equivalent) and at least two years of experience in epidemiology
- For Assignment Level IV: Completion of an approved residency and fellowship in Infectious Disease, Pulmonary Medicine, or a related specialty
