Physician

Responsibilities

• Act as content expert for HIV prevention and treatment-related care
• Obtain medical and sexual histories and conduct physical examinations
• Order relevant stat and microbiologic testing
• Make presumptive diagnoses of STIs and provide treatment
• Provide Post Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP) and Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP)
• Provide contraception options and vaccinations (Hepatitis A/B, Meningitis, HPV)
• Arrange referrals to other services as needed
• Provide health education to patients
• Work with PrEP navigators, mental health specialists, and HIV case managers
• Possibly rotate on the telemedicine service

Requirements

• Valid license to practice medicine in the State of New York
• Valid Board Certification or approved application for admission to a certifying examination
• For Assignment Level II: One year of satisfactory experience in the specialty area
• For Assignment Level III: Master's degree in Public Health (or equivalent) and at least two years of experience in epidemiology
• For Assignment Level IV: Completion of an approved residency and fellowship in Infectious Disease, Pulmonary Medicine, or a related specialty
