About the role

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate UH GI Radiology service activities, including pre-procedure, intra-procedure, and post-procedure patient care.
  • Perform and assist with diagnostic fluoroscopic procedures such as upper GI studies, feeding tube placements, and GU procedures.
  • Conduct patient assessments, including focused history and physical exams, and assess prior imaging studies.
  • Provide telephone triage and evaluate case appropriateness for various procedures.
  • Manage clinical documentation in the EMR, including pre- and post-procedure notes and orders.
  • Perform patient assessments prior to the administration of moderate/conscious sedation.
  • Provide patient education regarding post-procedure care and tube management.
  • Support the education of residents and fellows in diagnostic fluoroscopic procedures.
  • Collaborate with nursing and clinical teams to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care.

Requirements

  • Current license to practice as a Physician Assistant in the State of Michigan.
  • Completion of a Physician Assistant program accredited by ARC-PA (or predecessor agencies CAHEA/CAAHEP).
  • National Commission on Certification for Physician Assistants (NCCPA) certification.
  • State of Michigan Controlled Substance License and DEA registration.
  • AHA Approved BLS and ACLS certifications.
  • 2+ years of experience in Radiology.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2 years of Physician Assistant experience specifically in GI Radiology.
  • Experience with Radiology Fluoroscopic equipment and gastrointestinal or abdominal imaging.
  • Strong clinical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced academic medical center.
  • Experience with quality improvement, patient safety, or workflow optimization.
