About the role
Responsibilities
- Obtain patient histories, perform physical examinations, and order/evaluate laboratory, radiographic, and electrocardiographic studies
- Develop care plans and manage medical and surgical emergencies
- Assist attending physicians with procedures within the Physician Assistant scope of practice
- Counsel and instruct patients and their families regarding diagnoses and post-discharge care
- Render appropriate care during life-threatening emergencies when a physician is unavailable
- Document all care, discharge summaries, prescriptions, and referrals in accordance with ER policies
- Participate in performance improvement, research, and educational activities
- Work a rotating schedule including day, evening, night, weekend, and holiday shifts
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent from an accredited Physician Assistant program
- 4 years of related clinical experience
- Current New York State professional license
- NCCPA board certification
- NYS registered DEA
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications
Preferred Qualifications
- Two years of experience in Emergency Medicine, ICU, or Urgent Care
- Master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program
