Physical Therapy Assistant

Responsibilities

• Implement therapeutic procedures and interventions as designed by the supervising Physical Therapist
• Assist in assessing students and developing individual therapy activities and goals
• Contribute to progress reports and collect data for Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and evaluations
• Maintain accurate records in accordance with school, state, and federal policies
• Modify and maintain adaptive equipment for positioning and activities of daily living (ADL)
• Instruct educational staff on the use of adaptive equipment and the integration of therapy goals into classroom activities
• Monitor school environments for accessibility and ensure the safe use of equipment
• Attend ARD meetings concerning physical therapy
• Foster student independence, self-worth, and an understanding of individual differences

Requirements

• Associate degree from an accredited physical therapist assistant program
• Valid license issued by the Texas State Board of Physical Therapy Examiners
